Platform edges for the renovation of the station Sint-Pieters, Ghent, BELGIUM

Location: Gent (BE)

Urbastyle was chosen to supply platform edges for the renovation of the platforms of the Ghent Sint-Pieters railway station.

The station Ghent-Sint-Pieters dates from the 1913 World Exhibition and is protected. Thanks to this project, a whole new part of the city has developed. The station and its surroundings had to be adapted to current needs, which is why thorough renovation works of the same size as those of 1913 were started in 2010. Behind the old building, a large open hall was built with an integrated tram station, a taxi zone, bicycle sheds and shops. The platforms and tracks were completely renewed and Urbastyle was chosen to produce the platform edges. Two types of platform edges were produced. On the one hand light brown edges with integrated facilities for signalling and recesses for a tiled strip, on the other hand white platform edgings without additional properties, both in the Satin finish.
