Stéphane Beel & Xaveer De Geyter Architects – UFO, Gent, BELGIUM

Location: Gent (BE)

UFO Gent is designed by Stéphane Beel & Xaveer De Geyter Architects. We supplied large format slabs, UHPC benches and claustra as wall cladding.

The development of this cultural centre with library is a true socio-cultural injection for the village centre of Zaventem. Urbastyle supplied architectural concrete wall panel. Due to the white aggregates and the white cement, the result is an extremely white colour which gives the building a particularly light appearance. In order to maintain uniformity, the same colour and finish was used for the beam-shaped architectural concrete benches. A patio has been created at the entrance where the round shapes of the architectural concrete benches and tiles of the Nuton collection contrast with the clean lines of the building. In 2018, CC De Factorij received the Publica Award and was nominated for the German Design Award 2019 and the Architzer A+ Award 2018.
