Large format slabs and curved benches – Schengen Square, Antwerp, BELGIUM

Customized curved benches with backrest and large format paving slabs for the Schengen Square in Antwerp.

The Schengen square (formerly Cadix square) in Antwerp is a neighbourhood square and is the new beating hard of the Cadix district. As one of the largest green squares in Antwerp, it is a lively meeting place for the residents. In close consultation with the architects, Urbastyle produced the curved benches. Several of the benches have a concrete backrest that has been cast in one phase with the curved benches. As a result, the seat and the backrest fit together seamlessly. The polished (Fino) finishing creates a terrazzo look. Between the tram stop and the square, the large format paving slabs have the same concrete mix and finish as the curved benches with backrest. The fair faced (Visia) customized kerbs of the platform were also produced by Urbastyle.
