Customized large format slabs, Smedenpoort footbridges in Bruges, BELGIUM

The walking surface of the new Smedenpoort footbridges in Bruges are made of customized large size slabs with anchoring points.
Pedestrian bridges were installed on both sides of the historic 13th - 14th century entrance gate, the Smedenpoort, to the city of Bruges. The new footbridges are an extremely transparent and constructive design by Ney & Partners. For the surface, large size slabs were chosen where 12 stainless steel anchoring points were cast into each large size slab. The beige large size slabs have dimensions of 240 x 45 cm and contribute to the actual construction. The Ferro surface provides sufficient sliding resistance.
