Architecten Achtergael
Belgium

Lieven Achtergael is a leading figure in the Belgian actual architectural landscape. Architecten Achtergael, his practice located in Ghent, focuses on strategic urban design, housing development, public buildings and high-end private housing.

Recent work includes the new courthouse in Ghent, the federal police headquarters in Bruges and the internationally published example of innovative housing “Military Hospital” in Antwerp. Lieven Achtergael was nominated for the prestigious Mies Van Der Rohe Award in 2009 for the Rabot Youth Center in Ghent.

As a logical continuation of his architecture, Lieven Achtergael conceives deceptively simple objects to enhance everyday life.
