The bench cityscape after the work of the same name by Arne Quinze in 2007.

In 2007 and for a period of two years, the kind of degenerated Brussels Louisa neighbourhood was brought back to life by means of the wooden sculpture of Arne Quinze ‘Cityscape’, one of the artist’s first large wooden sculptures in Belgium. Especially for this project Arne Quinze contacted UrbaStyle to produce the public street bench cityscape. It is a concrete bench with a sort of reflection of the wooden sculpture above. The wooden structured surface still feels smooth when you sit on it although it is made out of architectural concrete. For the inhabitants of this neighbourhood, the installation was a success and it therefore stayed longer than was originally planned. Many inhabitants of Brussels enjoyed the Cityscape benches around the sculpture. We quickly decided to take this unique bench in our street furniture program to make it available for everyone.

The cement skin at the surface of the concrete is removed, allowing aggregates to appear. This finishing provides also a light roughness to the surface and a matt look.
