The Kuborn Square in Seraing was the subject of a project coordinated with that of the new City Hall as an architectural ensemble interacting with the urban context. The majority of the square's surface is covered with light grey large concrete slabs and is structured by bands of anthracite concrete paving blocks, symbolizing the coal seams in the subsoil. The finish of the slabs is ground (Fino). All large concrete slabs and concrete blocks are given a chemical-physical seal that facilitates maintenance. The large concrete slabs, street benches, paving blocks and step units used for the square are of high quality ensuring minimal and uncomplicated maintenance. The investment costs in high-quality materials are justified by their durability and the low maintenance they require.
