Erbil International Airport roundabout

Location: Erbil (IQ)
Design: Michaël Cravatte

We were requested to produce an amazing project for the roundabout of Erbil International Airport in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Our collaborator, also designer, Michael Cravatte, created a roundabout reminding the beautiful citadel of Erbil inhabited for 6000 years.

This work needed to be cost effective, inviting and beautiful in the same time.
The elements were created to be easily produced, transported and placed.
The roundabout is made of 36 elements from 3 different moulds reminding the citadel.
It acts as a sculpture, a touristic invitation to visite the center and a protection for the foot of the plane model that seems to fly over the citadel.

In September 2015, the trailers with the ready parts went straight from our production site in Tournai until Erbil by road, ferry from Italy to Turkey, then road again to Erbil, avoiding the conflict zones of Syria and Isis.
The parts were then ready to place on a flat surface concrete.

The result of the design, packaging and management was that the elements arrived perfect on site, were placed very easily with no damage!

An amazing and highly satisfying project for our company!
